Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas the label's co-founders. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on September 5. Then on November 9 the singer released two new singles: forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November 2013, she dropped No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. The track was accompanied by a music video in February 20th, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within one week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
